Terms of Service

Last updated: December 2025

These Terms of Service govern the use of the GoodCompany website and services. By using the site or engaging with the service, you agree to these terms.

1. About GoodCompany

GoodCompany arranges paid, in-person social visits between older adults and younger companions.

GoodCompany is not a care provider, medical service, or therapeutic service. We do not provide personal care, healthcare, counselling, or emergency support.

Our role is to facilitate matching, onboarding, and oversight within clearly defined boundaries.

2. Scope of the service

The service is limited to structured, time-bound social visits based on conversation and shared interests.

The service does not include:

  • Personal or intimate care
  • Medical or mental health support
  • Therapy or counselling
  • Household tasks, errands, or financial assistance

Any activity outside this scope is not permitted.

3. Eligibility

The service is intended for older adults who live independently and for companions who meet our onboarding requirements.

We reserve the right to decline, pause, or end access to the service at our discretion if we believe the service is not appropriate or expectations are misaligned.

4. Onboarding and matching fee

A one-time setup and matching fee is required before matching begins.

Once matching work has started, this fee is non-refundable.

The fee covers intake review, matching, verification processes, and coordination. It does not guarantee a specific outcome or length of placement.

5. Payments for visits

Visits are paid directly to the companion by the family or booking party.

GoodCompany may take a platform fee where applicable.

Payment arrangements are agreed per placement. GoodCompany is not responsible for enforcing payment between parties.

6. Consistency and availability

Placements are designed to be consistent and ongoing. However, availability may change due to life circumstances, including study or relocation.

Where a placement ends, GoodCompany may offer a replacement match where appropriate, but continuity cannot be guaranteed.

7. Boundaries and conduct

All parties are expected to respect:

  • The agreed visit structure and duration
  • The social-only nature of the service
  • Clear personal and professional boundaries

Requests for care, therapy, financial involvement, or inappropriate behaviour may result in immediate termination of the placement and access to the service.

8. Oversight and intervention

GoodCompany may conduct check-ins and request feedback to ensure placements remain appropriate.

We reserve the right to pause or end a placement if we identify safety concerns, boundary breaches, or misalignment with the service scope.

9. Limitation of liability

GoodCompany acts as an intermediary and does not supervise visits in person.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GoodCompany is not liable for:

  • The conduct of companions or families
  • Outcomes of visits
  • Loss, injury, or damages arising from participation in the service

Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot be excluded under UK law.

10. Data and privacy

Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By using the service, you consent to the collection and processing of data necessary to operate the service.

11. Changes to the service or terms

We may update the service or these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.

Continued use of the service indicates acceptance of updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
