Why this feels harder than it should
Many families arrive here because nothing is obviously wrong, yet something does not feel quite right. A parent is still independent, capable, and clear-minded, but their days feel quieter and more repetitive than they once did.
Conversations are fine, but shorter. Time seems to pass without much to mark it.This is a stage most services do not address well. Care feels inappropriate, but doing nothing feels uncomfortable. Trying to be more present from a distance does not actually change the day-to-day experience of the person you are thinking about.
GoodCompany exists for this in-between. We offer consistent, thoughtful companionship for older adults who do not need care, but who would benefit from regular human connection with someone they genuinely enjoy spending time with. The aim is not to intervene, but to preserve quality of life while someone is still fully themselves.
